Conference on Financing and Action for Global Health

Malaria Consortium is contributing to the forthcoming Action for Global Health conference which will take place on the 13th and 14th of September 2007.
The conference aims to catalyse action on global health. It will address key issues in health system strengthening in developing countries such as ensuring human resources for health, gender and health and research & development for new tools and technologies; providing an opportunity to hear the latest in policy, practice and research from both an international and developing country perspective.
Speakers have been invited from civil society in the North and South, the UN system, the UK government and global health partnerships. We expect the day to prompt lively debate.
Day One: 13th September
Dr James Tibenderana, Deputy Director of Malaria Consortium’s Regional Office for Africa will open the conference.
Speakers will present on:
Assessing our progress on global health
Improving international aid architecture
Barriers to health at national level
Day Two: 14th September
Intended for those engaged in global health policy analysis and discourse; consisting of interactive, facilitated sessions focusing on financing for global health. Cross cutting themes will include: horizontal vs. vertical funding; health systems strengthening; research & development; and innovative financing mechanisms.
