World Malaria Day: Mobilising to Save Lives

Malaria Consortium, the International Business Leaders' Forum, the Nigerian Organisation of Women and the Trades Union Congress jointly organised an event at the Trades Union Congress building, entitled "World Malaria Day in the UK: Mobilising to Save Lives". The event was chaired by Andrew Jack from the Financial Times and the panel of speakers were invited to discuss how their respective stakeholder groups worked in malaria, mobilised against malaria and could connect better with each other. Attendance was approximately 85 people.
The panel comprised of:
- Stephen O'Brien MP, Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Malaria, ShadowMinister for Health and Member of Parliament for Eddisbury (Cheshire)
- Gail Cartmail, TUC General Council and Assistant General Secretary of Unite the Union (Amicus section). To read speech, click here

and was followed by a Q&A and lunch. A communique was signed by the participants, expressing their commitment to a malaria free world and a joint press release was sent out from the organisers.
